Course Overview
The EMR course is delivered over the course of 10 days totalling 80-120 hrs. Please register for the start date, understanding that attendance is required for all class dates.
- This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness in a pre-hospital setting.
- Targets those providing emergency response: firefighters, law-enforcement officers, emergency medical services personnel, and workplace responders.
- Meets the Paramedic Association of Canada National Occupational Competency Profile for the practitioner level of the emergency medical responder (EMR).
Prerequisites: Standard First Aid with CPR Level C; pre-course assignment
Completion Requirements: 100% attendance, skills demonstration, two evaluated scenarios, and 75% min. passing grade on a written exam.
Certification: 3 year certification in Emergency Medical Responder (digital certificate issued upon successful completion)

Licensing Process
To practice or volunteer as an EMR in Saskatchewan, you must register with the College (also known as SCoP), complete an educational program and a national exam must be written and passed through COPR.
Applicants who have not yet passed a licensing exam may become licensed and practice with a Restriction.
